Glasgow Women’s Library

glasgow logoGlasgow Women’s Library (GWL) is a vibrant information hub housing a lending library, archive collections, and contemporary and historical artifacts relating to women’s lives, histories and achievements. The Library is a charity that celebrates the lives and achievements of women, champions their historical, cultural and political contributions to Scotland and acts as a catalyst to eradicate the prevalent gender gap that contributes to inequalities. Jackie Forster in the Lesbian Archive

Jackie Forster (1926-1998) was a journalist, broadcaster and campaigner who was instrumental in setting up the Lesbian Archive in London in the mid eighties. She also co-founded the lesbian networking organization and magazine Sappho in 1971, campaigned for the rights of lesbian mothers, was a director of the London Women’s Centre and a founder member of the Women’s Broadcasting and Film Lobby.
